*De Morgen:
"With her technically simple, austere-poetic films, Dorothée van den Berghe creates the impression that she is trying to capture precisely that fragile, elusive fault line on videotape. (…) Her films, often centered on love, exude a strong social consciousness. Though she also often plucks a streak of poetry from harsh reality. 'I don't feel specifically related to social realism or a movement like Free Cinema,' she says. 'My films might fit into that category, but it still has a lot to do with being involved with the neighborhood you live in. Often it's intuitive. It haunts me as well. (…) I still believe that Dorothée’s BXL Minuit is one of the best short films I have seen at the festivals last year (’99). In comparison to what I see at the Berlinale right now, it is even more precious”.
