"Absolutely Afro tells a recognisable story, but is highly original in its execution. The humour is in the looks and facial expressions of the characters, not in the dialogues. In fact, apart from a few conversations, the film is virtually dialogue-free, which adds to the atmosphere. The camerawork is also very strong. As a result, it is as if the basically clichéd story has been given a new lease of life with a new cover paper, pink with white polka dots of course. Very enjoyable!"
