“It must be great to be a criminal in Brussels"

‘Brussels is the only place in this country where you are outlawed: here I am not looked at because I am Flemish with a Dutch accent. Here the world comes together and you can fill in your "identity" as freely as you want. I think it must be fantastic for a criminal to flee into Brussels: the chaotic structure makes this an ideal refuge, right?'

'The documentary Off Spring was in line with the scenario I was writing about the distance that can grow between a parent and a child - a scenario that I completely adapted after talking to the women . The mothers who decided to give their child away all indicated that their lives have come to a standstill since then. That time stopped at that point and they now carry a frozen moment with them for a lifetime. That's why the documentary is called Off Spring. After they gave up their child, they never really lived life again. They haven't experienced their own spring.’ (De Standaard)
