“I am intrigued by how people deal with physicality."
"You don't necessarily have to place the story in the 70s because it's just as much about the separation of parents, which always comes with pain, and a kind of grimness towards the child... My Queen Karo is the story of a child who experiences how her parents develop." This is how Dorothée van den Berghe, who made a creditable debut with Girl and confirms her talent with her latest semi-autobiographical film, concludes our conversation.
There are links with your short film Rue Verte and your debut Girl. The main character, a girl, ends up in a world that is strange to her and tries to find herself there?
Van den Berghe: Or my fascination for different worlds that are completely different from each other and that live together in one place. How people deal with physicality, that also intrigues me. And how a child finds her way in that, yes. (Filmmagie)
