The first time we see that main character, she's peeing on the toilet. That's something you almost never see in a movie. Why did you choose such a confrontational moment to introduce her?

Van de Berghe: 'I certainly didn't want to be daring. Such an attitude of 'Look mom, no hands' is not for me. (laughs) Rather, it was to clarify the theme of the film. It would be about intimacy. As a private place, the toilet is very illustrative. She only experiences that intimacy in those private places, because outside of that she is very closed. That image has also grown together with Charlotte, no matter how strange that may sound. (laughs) (De Tijd)
